After a raid by ED in a flat owned by Arpita Mukherjee, a close aide of Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee, officials have seized a cash pile of about ₹28 Cr, 5 Kg Gold and silver.
Second Raid In Arpita Mukherjee’s Flat
In another raid conducted by ED at Arpita Mukherjee’s second flat located in Belgharia, Kolkata, ₹28 Cr cash and 5Kg of gold and silver have been found. This raid is followed by the raid conducted four days ago in her Tollygunge flat where ₹21.9 Cr were seized.
After 11 hrs the raid in Belgharia flat finally ended at 5:30 am on Thursday. However, not only cash, but ED has also found some property papers from the sport during the raid. Officials seized the pile of cash and valuable elements in 10 iron chests to transfer safely.
ED Officials Said
ED officials referring to the previous raid on Mukherjee’s flat said that the pile of cash and valuables are coming out from her house like treasure coming out from “Ali Baba’s iron chest”. “On Wednesday, they brought four big cash-counting machines from the State Bank of India to the flat to count the fresh stash that they described as “proceeds of crime”.”
ED found bundles of ₹2,000 and ₹500 notes coming out from the cupboards and wardrobes in the flat which was on the eight floors after the officials accessed the main lock with the help of a keymaker when the housing association’s secretary was present.
The same day, “ED officers had also gone to Mukherjee’s ancestral home in Belgharia. Her mother Minati Mukherjee initially stood in the way of the ED officials, but had to later allow them to conduct raids.”
