2019 was surely not the best year for Bollywood when it comes to the entertainment business and content altogether. Nevertheless, it also wasn’t the worst, as we witnessed so much from distinct genres. Glad.
So before 2019 ends, herein we take a trip down the memory lane to highlight the 14 highest-grossing Bollywood movies in 2019.
1. War
The Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff amassed enough movie-hall whistles for the action sequences. And truly, we are glad that War happened to us in 2019.
2. Kabir Singh
Kabir Singh garnered a mix response from the critics and viewers. While some called it a cliched storyline, others praised it for the same reason.
3. Uri – The Surgical Strike
Actor Vicky Kaushal would forever be thankful for Uri – The Surgical Strike. With Uri, Kaushal didn’t only get to feature in a movie that is close to the Indians’ sentiments but also made a buzz of him in Bollywood.
4. Bharat
With Bharat, Salman Khan donned multiple roles and when we look at the earnings, it’s obvious that he was loved for the same.
5. Mission Mangal
A biopic based on India’s successful mission to Mars. The story depicts ISRO scientists, especially women, gruelling efforts to put India on Mars.
6. Housefull 4
Not the best of Housefull series, but Housefull 4 was ticklish enough to be ranked 6th on the list of India’s top-grossing Bollywood movies.
7. Gully Boy
We would not be surprised if Gully Boy sets inspiration for the movies to come in 2020. The Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh starrer is surely the best that Bollywood has produced.
8. Total Dhamaal
Yet again, not on the same lines as of Dhamaal series, but the movie was celebrated for pairing Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit on the big screen.
9. Chhichhore
A Bollywood movie that I believe should have been in the top five for the lesson it spews. It’s a story about why friendship is the best thing that could happen to you.
10. Super 30
Super 30 was declared tax free across multiple cities in India. And why not, it set an example of its own when it comes to education.
11. Kesari
Directed by Anurag Singh, Kesari is the story of 21 brave Sikh soldiers who lock horns against 10,000 Pashtun invaders to script history of its own.
12. Dream Girl
If you tell me 2019 was Ayushmann Khurrana’s year in Bollywood, I won’t be surprised. His sublime performance got us every time be it in Article 15 or Dream Girl.
13. Saaho
Ranked 13th on the list of India’s top Hindi movies in 2019, Saaho was all about action and action and action.
14. Bala
Another Ayshamn Starrer Bala dragged us to the theatres and we are not complaining.
