WhatsApp owned by Meta is working on adding 15 additional lengths for disappearing messages. According to WABetaInfo, the platform now only offers three lengths for vanishing messages: 24 hours, 7 days, and 90 days.
The additional durations will be available in the “More choices” menu. The menu will include 15 new durations for disappearing messages – 1 year, 180 days, 60 days, 30 days, 21 days, 14 days, 6 days, 5 days, 4 days, 3 days, 2 days, 12 hours, 6 hours, 3 hours and 1 hour.
The introduction and addition of new durations for disappearing messages will give their customers more control over the conversations which they send and receive.
According to various sources, it is said that 1 hour would be beneficial for messages or conversations that have some secret and sensitive information as it will result in disappearing the message instantly and which will also avoid the message from being kept in the sender’s phone for long period and several security reasons.
Disappearing messages is a feature that allows its users to send messages and set a duration for a specific amount of time and also allows the users to make their messages disappear from both the sender’s and receiver’s conversation.
