Over the months, a lot of mountain peaks have become visible from different parts of the country owing to less pollution. And adding to this list is the visibility of the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, from a village in Singhwahini in Bihar.
The images of the Mt Everest were first shared by Ritu Jaiswal who is the Mukhiya of Gram Panchayat Singhwahini. “We can see Everest from our terrace today in Singhwahini village. Nature is balancing itself,” she wrote on Twitter.
Later, IFS Parveen Kaswan talked about the same with a little more information.
He added a picture of a local newspaper’s story on the same. In the story, it’s mentioned how the range was visible from the village decades ago when pollution wasn’t a thing in Bihar and vicinity.

According to Google Maps, the distance between the Singhwahini village and Mt. Everest is 190km. And the visibility is not at all surprising as we have seen mountains at a further range than this being visible to people in recent months.
Recently, the Gangotri range was visible from a place in Uttar Pradesh. Also, the world’s third-highest peak, Kangchenjunga, is also now visible from West Bengal due to lack of pollution.
About a month ago, it was reported that the Dhauladhar range, which is part of a Himalayan chain of mountains in Himachal Pradesh, had become visible to the people of Jalandhar in Punjab.
