AAP Announced 300 Units Of Free Electricity
The Aam Aadmi Party as the Punjab government has announced 300 units of free electricity to domestic customers from July 1.
The formal announcement of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is still awaited, as he completes one month in the office. The AAP Government has rolled out an advertisement in the newspaper that free electricity will be provided from July 1 onwards.
In June 2021 as Delhi Chief Minister, Mr. Arind Kejriwal guaranteed a free power supply of up to 300 units to the electorate of Punjab. This promise of him was very similar to the scheme he excited in Delhi.
Consumers of Punjab are getting the most expensive power supply in the country. And now the Punjab Government is intending to follow Delhi’s beneficial pattern for Punjab consumers. Under which it is assumed that 300 units of electricity consumption per month will be free.

Biggest Offer Of AAP
Since being elected in March, this scheme is the biggest offering of the AAP Government to Punjab. Out of 73.80 Lakh domestic consumers, 62.25 lakh will receive the benefits of this scheme.
The implementation of this scheme was decided at the recent meeting of Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab officials in New Delhi. First, the purpose of this meeting was to fix issues with the state cabinet. But at the last moment, the scheme announcement was decided on April 16.
With the scheme being rolled out from July 1, the Punjab government is sure to save around ₹2000 Cr in the first quarter of the fiscal year. And the government’s bill is expected to cross ₹5,500 Cr annually.
In Punjab, farmers get the benefit of free power worth ₹6000 Cr per annum, with domestic consumers getting the subsidy of ₹4000 Cr. And these domestic customers include “ 21.83 lakh SC/BC/BPL families.”
