Eyeing the festive season inch closer, the Indian Railways has decided to run 392 additional special trains throughout the festive season to help people commute with ease.
Last week, the Indian Railways had released a list of additional 392 special trains that will start operating from today. All these 392 special trains have been tagged as ‘Festival Trains’ and will operate till November 30.
“To clear the festive rush, Ministry of Railways has approved 196 pairs (392 trains) of “Festival Special” services over Indian Railways to be operated from 20th October 2020 and 30th November 2020. The fare for these Festival Special services shall be that applicable for special trains. Zonal Railways will notify their schedule well in advance,” the ministry had announced on October 13.

The fair of these trains will be similar to those applicable for special trains. This means anyone purchasing the ticket will have to pay 10-30 percent extra as compared to the fares of mail/express trains.

The ticket booking facility will be available both online (via the IRCTC website) and on PRS ticket counters.

Also, not wearing a mask, not maintaining social distance and being irresponsible about the safety measures on trains will lead to fines and imprisonment.

At present, a total of 666 mail and express trains are running and all other regular trains stay indefinitely suspended in the view of the pandemic.
