Rajdhani Express completes 53 years of its service and it is a proud moment for Indian Railways. In 1969, first superfast train ran on railway tracks between Delhi and Howrah. The superfast service has been a huge success for Railways.
Even after so many years of service the train service has secured its spot among the most premium trains in the country. Train number 12301 Rajdhani Express departs from Howrah Junction at 4:50 PM and arrives at New Delhi Railway Station at 10:05 AM.
Rajdhani Express Train number 12302 departs from New Delhi Railway Station at 4:50 PM and arrives at Howrah Junction at 9:55 AM. The train takes halt at Asansol Junction, Dhanbad Junction, Parasnath, Gaya Junction, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, Prayag Junction and Kanpur Central.

In 2019, when train completed 50 years of operations Indian Railways celebrated the occasion with staff members and passengers on board. Passengers received greetings via SMS. Brand new linens were given to the train and passengers were also given napkins with greetings of 50 years of Rajdhani Express. There was a cake cutting ceremony on board and staff members wore a special badge for the day.
PM Narendra Modi’s led Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has given green flag to Indian Railway’s project to run 160 km/hr train on Delhi-Howrah and Delhi-Mumbai route. The investment costs on both the routes will be Rs 6685 crore and Rs 6806 crore respectively. The project will be completed very soon.
