For Indian nationals, the Aadhaar card is a crucial identifying document for several purposes. However, your Aadhaar number is no longer required for each transaction. Alternatively, there are several uses for a Virtual ID (VID).
What is an Aadhaar Virtual ID?
A 16-digit number linked to an Aadhaar card is called the Virtual ID. It may be used in place of the real Aadhaar number for e-KYC and authentication. Since the Aadhaar number is hidden, this temporary number protects privacy. The Virtual ID may be used for several purposes by Aadhaar subscribers.
Uses of Aadhaar Virtual ID
- Opening a bank account
- Applying for government services
- E-KYC process
- Downloading an Aadhaar PVC card or e-Aadhaar
- Availing government subsidies
- Applying for a passport immediately
- Buying a new insurance policy
