After facing an over 5 months shut down the Kashmir valley finally has 2G internet services restored. This restoration has not come without restrictions. As per reports from The Hindu access to only 301 websites would be granted.
From Saturday 2G mobile Internet services on postpaid as well as prepaid phones are restored in the Kashmir Valley. A notification to that effect was released by the administration.
Social media websites would, however, would still be not accessed as they are out of bounds of the selected websites. The list of 301 accessible websites includes search engines and those associated with banking, education, news, travel, utilities, and employment.
The development is notable as it comes after the Supreme Court’s pronouncement. The apex judiciary on January 10th asked the Jammu and Kashmir administration to review within a week all orders imposing curbs in the Union Territory.
After the abrogation of Article 370 on 5th August, 2019 the valley was sent into a lockdown kind of a situation. Since the eve of center’s move internet, mobile, SMS services were blocked in J&K.

While services were restored in Jammu within a week Kashmir is still facing a slow pace towards normalcy.
