According to reports, the government is preparing to create and introduce a similar AI tool like ChatGPT to aid doctors in boosting their productivity and improving diagnostic accuracy.
According to several reports, the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) is working on developing a tool employing AI and Machine Learning (ML) that would likely assist doctors throughout the nation in creating digital prescriptions rather than hand-written ones and saving them in digital records. For the effective launch of the new AI tool, the National Health Authority (NHA) and the Ministry of Health and Welfare are collaborating with private parties.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship program, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), aims to support the country’s integrated digital health infrastructure. Through digital highways, it seeks to close the gap between the many healthcare ecosystem players.
A similar strategy was introduced by Apollo Hospitals in February. It makes use of a “Clinical Intelligence Engine” that combines AI and ML to evaluate large amounts of data and assist healthcare personnel in finding trends. In its initial effort, the government intends to use the data from Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, and Apollo Hospitals.
A government official added “We may use synthetic data at first to train the model. Later, we are also looking at using data from the AIIMS and Tata Memorial Hospital. The data from Apollo’s vast experience can also be used by integrating their tool with the government’s application considering their (Apollo) tool is available free of cost for healthcare professionals,”
The AI-run application will gather and learn from vast amounts of data once the digital health mission is fully operational across India. The officer added that work on the model has already begun and that it would help medical professionals and boost patient happiness in addition to improving treatment and diagnosis outcomes.

Clinical decision support system (CDSS), the application that is expected to launch soon, would be taught using vast amounts of data gathered from years of clinical experience accumulated by Indian hospitals like AIIMS, New Delhi, over the past few decades.
It will make the application capable of supporting medical professionals or replying to inquiries. The app would alert and recommend to the doctor the potential options to proceed with the diagnosis and treatment, such as the list of laboratory or diagnostic tests needed, as soon as the doctor begins writing down the symptoms of the patient.
