The Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, daughter-in-law of superstar Amitabh Bachchan and MP Jaya Bachchan. ED will question the actor regarding Panama Papers global tax leaks case, 2016.
Under provisions of Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) questions will be asked.
Plea for an adjournment by courts can prevent Aishwarya from appearing in front of ED. She has done that twice earlier.
Panama Paper leaked the names of several politicians, actors, and businessmen and put them in suspicion. Amitabh Bachchan has denied accusations of wrongdoings. The actor said that he did not overrule Indian regulations. He denied links with firms mentioned in Panama Papers.
People in 22 countries have raked more than 1.2 billion dollars.
UK recouped $ 253 million, Australia $ 93 million, France $ 136 million, Germany $ 183 million; thanks to the Panama Papers leak. More than 100 organizations participated to uncover the accounts and names associated with them.
