While India still needs to better its 4G infrastructure, Reliance Industries Limited is in no mood of doing the same and has already announced the arrival of 5G in India.
Mukesh Ambani, while speaking at the Indian Mobile Congress, has revealed that Jio will rollout 5G technology commencing as soon as the second half of 2021.
He said in a statement, “I assure you that Jio will pioneer the 5G Revolution in India in the second half of 2021. It will be powered by an indigenous-developed network, hardware and technology components. Jio’s 5G service will be a testimony to your inspiring vision of Atma-nirbhar Bharat.”
Ambani’s plan to roll out 5G for the Indian market was first discussed at Jio’s annual general meeting. He, back then, had revealed how the company’s 5G solution is entirely made in India.

“Jio has designed and developed a complete 5G solution from scratch. This will enable us to launch a world-class 5G service in India, using 100% homegrown technologies and solutions. Once Jio’s 5G solution is proven at India’s scale, Jio Platforms would be well-positioned to be an exporter to other telecom operators globally as a complete managed service.”
As of now, Spectrum for 5G has been sold and the stage is set for the next battle amongst telecom service providers.
