Various parts of Uttar Pradesh set for high alert, including the Lucknow Commissionerate area, after the UP ATS and UP Police uncovered a terror plot and arrested Al Qaeda Terrorists on Sunday. Security measures have heightened in the districts of Sitapur, Hardoi, Unnao, Barabanki, and Rae Bareli besides western Uttar Pradesh.
Prashant Kumar, ADG (Law and Order) said, “UP ATS has uncovered a big terror module. The team has arrested two terrorists linked with Al Qaeda’s Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.”

The UP Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) uncovered the alleged plot on Sunday when they raided two addresses in Lucknow. Five out of the seven people living at those addresses managed to flee the spot. Soon after this, an alert was issued across Lucknow and nearby districts to nab the suspects who remain at large, according to sources.
ADG Prashant Kumar told the media that the suspects were planning to “unleash terror activities before August 15 [Independence Day] in different cities of the state”. He also mentioned that the suspects were planning to use “human bombs” to target crowded areas.
The UP ATS team has apprehended two people from the addresses in Lucknow. The ATS authorities have arrested two men as Minhaz and Maseeruddin, both “active members” of ‘Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind’, an outfit with strong links to Al Qaeda.
