Using phone while driving remains one of the many reasons for road-related accidents. And despite stringent rules, people don’t seem to be parting ways from the unhealthy habit. So in an attempt to catch traffic defaulters, the Australian state of New South Wales has unveiled AI-powered detection cameras that they will use to spot people using their phones while driving.

The camera will reportedly look signs for motorists using their mobile phone while the flagged images will be reviewed by a human. In the first three months of trials, violators will be let off with a warning. Offical are confident that this will lead to fewer incidents.
