As the city of Chennai has recorded 37,070 cases out of 52,334 reported in the state of Tamil Nadu lockdown has been called. The capital city of Tamil Nadu would again be in locked-down mode from Friday. The lockdown would be in force till the 30th of June in the city.
Along with Chennai, it’s 3 adjoining districts would also be in lockdown till the end of the month. The lockdown has been announced on a suggestion of a medical committee. Notably out of 625 deaths in Tamil Nadu 498 have taken place alone in Chennai.
The senior medical professional emphasized that the state government needed to focus on better inter-department coordination and monitor ground-level implementation of its initiatives. The experts also said that there is a need of more planning by the state to contained the spread of the virus.

“Lockdowns are not just about restrictions, but about performing more tests and tracing, isolating the affected individuals”, explained a Healthcare Consultant. While the precautions in the face of social distancing and hand washing are being promoted the Unlock 1 has seen a rise in cases. With 4 on the global list, India now has 3,81,320 cases and over 12,000 deaths as of now.
