As the online space is becoming more and more vulnerable keeping your money and privacy safe is becoming difficult. In a recent incident bank accounts of over 200 government officials were hacked.
As per reports accounts of more than 200 employees of New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) were allegedly hacked. Money has been siphoned off in the first week of February from these hacked accounts informed police. However, the police have received only 2 complaints in this regard.
NDMC employees union says more than 200 employees have lost their money in online fraud. The employees’ union, in a letter to the NDMC chairman, raised the issue that its members lost money amounting to lakhs of rupees. They said that money was withdrawn by unknown people through ATMs at different locations.
According to police, these seem to be cases of forgery done by cloning of ATM cards. Most of the cases of frauds are conducted from SBI accounts. The locations from where the money is withdrawn are in Delhi-NCR.

The first incident came to light on February 9. Amir Yadav, an employee of NDMC, registered an FIR at the Parliament Street police station and the State Bank of India, saying he lost Rs 15,000 from his salary account. Police is investigating the matter.
