The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has produced a calendar detailing the times when banking activities will remain closed in December. Under the Negotiable Instruments Act of 1881, the State Government, Central Government, and Union Territories list bank holidays. On January 26th (Republic Day), August 15th (Independence Day), and October 2nd (Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti), India has three national holidays.
There are two kinds of bank holidays. The first is a state holiday, whereas the second is a national holiday. State holidays are exclusively state-specific, and depending on where you reside, they may or may not be bank holidays. National holidays, on the other hand, are days when all banks across the country are closed.
