Bank holidays in September: Janmashtami to Ganesh Chaturthi; see the complete list of RBI holidays
There are 14 bank holidays in September 2026 according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, which includes Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays.
Customers won’t be able to use branch services during these periods because both public and private sector banks will be closed. Before visiting, customers are recommended to check the holiday calendar or confirm with their local bank office.
The complete list of September 2026 bank holidays is as follows:
September 4: Bank branches will remain closed for Janmashtami.
September 6: All Indian bank branches will be closed on Sunday.
September 11: Due to municipal corporation elections, banks in Jaipur will be closed.
September 12: For Tirubhav Tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva, banks in Guwahati will be closed. Since it’s the second Saturday of the month, banks all around India will likewise be closed.
September 13: All Indian bank branches will be closed on Sunday.
September 14: Bank branches will remain closed Ganesh Chaturthi.
September 15: For Samvatsari (Chaturthi Paksha)/Nuakhai/Ganesh Chaturthi (2nd Day), banks in Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, and Panaji will be closed.
September 20: All Indian bank branches will be closed on Sunday.
September 21: Due to the Janmotsav of Srimanta Sankardeva/Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi, banks in Guwahati, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram will be closed.
September 22: Due to Karma Puja, banks in Ranchi will be closed.
September 23: In honour of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji’s birthday, banks in Jammu and Srinagar will be closed.
September 25: Due to Indrajatra, banks in Gangtok will be closed.
September 26: Since it is the fourth Saturday of the month, banks all over India will be closed.
September 27: All Indian bank branches will be closed on Sunday.
Customers should be aware that although physical bank branches will be closed on these dates, basic financial services will still be accessible. UPI, ATMs, and online and mobile banking services will continue to operate until users are informed of planned maintenance or other service disruptions.
Additionally, September 14 will be a trading holiday according to the NSE holiday calendar.
