People urinating in open is a common phenomenon in India. And despite the government’s efforts to aware people to not entertain such practices, a little seems to have changed.
This means the concerned bodies need to get creative about their tactics to stop people from urinating in public and Bengaluru civic bodies seem to be doing just that.

Banglore’s Bruhut Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) have installed mirrors at the “most favoured locations for public urinating”. These efforts are being made by the government to not only keep the city clean but also improve the state’s Swachh Survekshan ranking.
BBMP has installed five of such mirrors across the city. The mirrors also have QR codes stickers on them, which when scanned, give people directions to the nearest public toilet.
BBMP Commissioner BH Anil Kumar, while quoting the same as a “good idea” said:
“We thought that it would be better that we shame people, so that they will not repeat offences of using public spaces as urinals. The idea was also to encourage them to use public toilets that are located nearby”.
At present, the mirrors have been installed at KR Market, Indian Express Circle, ESI Compound in Indira Nagar, Jyoti Nivas College in Kormangala and Church Street. The cost of the project is about Rs 2 lakh.
