Bengaluru policemen set an excellent example to the statement when they dressed like a commuter to catch rickshaw drivers that refused to ply on metered fares or denied rides in three out of the seven zones of the city.
The policemen, reportedly, dressed like regular commuters and asked the auto rickshaws for a ride from the aforementioned zones.
At the end of the day, the authority slapped fine on as many as 5,200 drivers across the city for several reasons.

The drivers were fined for refusing to ply to certain destinations, demanding more fare and also not having valid or improper documents.
Moreover, several other policemen were also fined for minor offenses like not wearing a uniform. In total, the police collected a whopping Rs 8,06,200 in fines.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) BR Ravikant Gowda further promised that the same drives will be carried out in other zones of the city to keep the drivers in check.
The fines were levied under the amended Motor Vehicle Act 2019.
