Bharat Gaurav Deluxe Train Set to Explore the Scenic North East from April 22

A unique travel opportunity is arriving this April as the Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourist Train gears up for a 15-day journey from Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station. Operated by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC), this special train will cover around 5,800 kilometers across India’s stunning and culturally rich North East. Passengers can board from multiple stops, including Ghaziabad, Tundla, Aligarh, Kanpur, and Etawah.

The tour will explore five of the famed “Seven Sisters” states of the North East—Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland, and Meghalaya—offering a deep dive into their natural landscapes and vibrant cultures. Highlights of the journey include Guwahati, Jorhat, Sivasagar, and Kaziranga in Assam; Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh; Unakoti and Udaipur in Tripura; Kohima and Dimapur in Nagaland; and Cherapunji and Shillong in Meghalaya.

The first stop is Guwahati, where visitors will explore the Kamakhya and Umananda Temples before enjoying a scenic sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra River. From there, the train continues overnight to Naharlagun, near the Arunachal Pradesh capital, Itanagar.

In Assam, the journey takes passengers to the historic town of Sivasagar, once the capital of the Ahom Kingdom. Key landmarks include the ancient Sivadol temple and the architectural sites of Talatal Ghar and Rang Ghar. Next up is Jorhat, known for its sprawling tea gardens, followed by an overnight halt at Kaziranga, with an early morning safari planned in the renowned national park.

Afterward, the train proceeds to Tripura, halting at Kumarghat before tourists visit the striking rock carvings of Unakoti and continue to the state capital Agartala. The itinerary in Tripura includes a visit to the Ujjayanta Palace, the Tripura Sundari Temple, and the lakeside Neermahal Palace in Udaipur.

Travelers will then venture into Nagaland, catching breathtaking views during the train ride from Badarpur to Lumding. At Dimapur, tourists will board buses to reach Kohima and explore the heritage-rich Khonoma village, known for its sustainable practices and insights into Naga traditions.

The journey continues back to Assam, where tourists travel by road to Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, with a stop at the picturesque Umiam Lake. The following day is packed with adventures in Cherrapunji, featuring Shillong Peak, Nohkalikai Falls, Mawsmai Caves, and Elephant Falls. From Cherrapunji, the group returns to Guwahati to board the train back to Delhi.

This deluxe train offers an elevated travel experience, featuring fully air-conditioned coaches with three accommodation options—AC I (Superior), AC II (Deluxe), and AC III (Comfort). Amenities include two onboard restaurants, a modern kitchen, shower cubicles, sensor-based restrooms, foot massagers, and a mini library. Security measures such as CCTV cameras, electronic safes, and guards on each coach ensure a safe journey.

Tour prices start at ₹1,16,905 per person in AC III and go up to ₹1,67,845 for a private AC I coupe. The package covers train travel, hotel stays, vegetarian meals, guided tours, transfers, and travel insurance.

This initiative aligns with the government’s “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” and “Dekho Apna Desh” programs, aimed at promoting regional tourism and cultural exchange across the country.
