Big News! Switching Between Prepaid and Postpaid Plans in India Just Got Easier
Are you tired of waiting months to switch your mobile plan? Good news! The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in India has just made it much simpler and faster to change from prepaid to postpaid plans—or vice versa.
What’s Changed?
Earlier, if you wanted to switch your mobile plan type, you had to wait a long 90 days before you could do it again. But now, the DoT has slashed this waiting period to just 30 days for your first switch. This means you can enjoy your new plan much sooner!
How Does the New Rule Work?
- First Switch: You only need to wait 30 days before you can change your plan type again.
- Online or OTP Switches: If you use an OTP (One Time Password) or switch online, the 90-day waiting period still applies after the first switch.
- Want to Switch Sooner? No problem! You can visit your telecom operator’s store or an authorized retail outlet. By completing a simple KYC (Know Your Customer) process in person, you can switch plans even before the lock-in period ends.
Which Operators Are Included?
This new rule covers all major telecom companies in India, including:
- Airtel
- Jio
- Vodafone Idea
- BSNL
What Do You Need to Do?
Switching your plan is easy:
- Go to your mobile operator’s website, app, or customer care center.
- Submit a request to change your plan.
- Provide the necessary KYC documents.
Your operator will also clearly inform you about the waiting period each time you switch.
Why Is This Good for You?
- Faster Switches: No more long waits—get the plan you want, when you want it.
- More Flexibility: Change your plan easily to suit your needs.
- Simple Process: Just a few steps, and you’re done!
