In a piece of proud news for India and the Indians, Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi has been lauded by none other than Microsoft founder Bill Gates for taking the right steps to flatten the coronavirus curve.
In a letter to PM Modi, the world’s second-richest man said, “We commend your leadership and the proactive measures you and your government have taken to flatten the curve of the COVID-19 infection rate in India.”

He praised the precautionary measures being taken by the Indian Government including “adopting a national lockdown, expanding focused testing to identify hotspots for isolation, quarantining, and care, and significantly increasing health expenditures to strengthen the health system response and promote R&D and digital innovation.”
Also, he highlighted the importance of using technology to fight the pandemic and especially lauded the use of Aarogya Setu app that helps in tracking the virus.
“I’m glad your government is fully utilising its exceptional digital capabilities in its COVID-19 response and has launched the Aarogya Setu digital app for coronavirus tracking, contact tracing, and to connect people to health services” he wrote.
In the US, Bill Gates’s contribution to fight the pandemic has been exceptional. He has funded various researches to come up with a vaccine for the virus. He is also the second-highest financial contributor to the WHO after the US, which has, reportedly, stopped funding WHO.

Coronavirus cases in India have surged past 21,000 as of April 23. As many as 681 people have died due to the virus in India and 4,258 have recovered.
