One of the most celebrated Bollywood actors, Irrfan Khan, passed away on Wednesday at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.
The news of his death was shared on Twitter by filmmaker Shoojit Sircar. “My dear friend Irfaan. You fought and fought and fought. I will always be proud of you.. we shall meet again.. condolences to Sutapa and Babil.. you too fought, Sutapa you gave everything possible in this fight. Peace and Om shanti. Irfaan Khan salute,” he wrote.
The 53-year-old actor was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday. He was reported very sick. For the unknown, Khan has been suffering from neuroendocrine tumour for a while now and had issues in breathing.
The actor had earlier undergone treatment abroad for several months in 2019. During the time, he was working on just one project which was Angrezi Medium.
Irrfan Khan was not only celebrated for his roles in Bollywood movies but also Hollywood movies. He has been a part of international blockbusters such as Slumdog Millionaire, Jurassic World, The Amazing Spider-Man and Life of Pi.
Surely, Irrfan Khan’s death leaves behind a void in the film industry that shall remain as it’s in the years to come. He was an exceptional performer who can’t even see his mother for the last time who passed away three days ago.
May his soul Rest in Peace. You will always be remembered.
