Online social groups of boys on platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram is a normal thing. Talking about girls in these groups is also a normal thing. However, sharing pictures of teenage girls and planning their rapes, sexual objectification, and slut-shaming schoolgirls is not common and apt right?
That’s what the issue with an Instagram based group of young boys named “Bois Locker Room“, which got #BoysLockerRoom trending on Twitter. The group involving teenage boys from Delhi schools got their chats leaked. One of the members of the group is believed to have taken the screenshots and passed it on to the girls (maybe against whom the comments were).

The screenshots show members talking about sexual assault often against their own classmates. Misogynist rape-minded talks, sexual texting on girls’ message box on Instagram is a common thing for the group. Members of the group are primarily Class 11 and 12 students from some of Delhi’s top schools.
Taking cognizance of the matter Delhi police has arrested one Juvenile who was part of the group. Almost all the group members (21) have been identified. All of them will be examined said the police. Meanwhile, Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal called for the arrest of those associated with the group.

However, the matter has revealed how normalizing kind of casual and fun chats about rape, misogyny, and objectification in schools are going on. The other part of the story is also sad. One of the girls who got this derogatory message from a member of the group has been involved in shaming acts. The screenshots show the girl making fun of homosexuality and disability in her chat.
