One of India’s most iconic monuments and one of the seven wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal, is also the most Googled monument in the world. With a whopping 1417650 monthly Google searches, the Taj Mahal beat other iconic monuments like the Statue of Liberty, Big Ben, London Eye, Stonehenge, etc.
The research was conducted by a Columbus Direct, which is a travel insurance company.

Taj Mahal was built in 1632 by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as the final resting place for his wife Mumtaz Mahal.
The second on the list was Machu Picchu in Peru with a whooping 1269260 monthly searches worldwide.

Burj Khalifa in the UAE claimed third place with a monthly search of 1103950. The list follows Niagara Falls in the fourth position with 945810 worldwide searches in a month; and the Eiffel Tower in France at the fifth spot.

Nepal’s Mount Everest stood seventh in the list.
