Violence At JNU
Delhi Police has filed a case related to violence at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus. Two student groups at JNU clashed allegedly over Non-Vegetarian food served at the hostel mess on the special day of Ram Navmi, as per officials.
A minimum of sixteen students were injured yesterday on both sides as the clash became severely intense. Between two student groups “Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP)” at the campus.
FIR Has Registered
After the complaint made by JNUSU, SFI, DSF, and AISA students this morning the police said it has registered an FIR against unidentified culprits of ABVP.
As a result of severe violence at JNU, the police has filed FIR under section “323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.”
Officials said, “Further probe is on to collect evidence and identify culprits.”
Manoj C who is the Deputy Commissioner of Police said that members of the ABVP group have also announced to file an FIR today regarding the matter. He further said, “On receipt of the same necessary appropriate legal action will be taken.”

ABVP Members Denied The Charges
JNUSU students have allegedly claimed that ABVP group members have stopped the students from eating non-veg food and created a violent atmosphere on the campus. While on the other hand ABVP group has denied the charges against them. They have accused “Leftists” of obstructing the puja programme organised on the occasion of Ram Navmi in the Hostel. Both student groups have accused each other of creating violence and throwing stones at each other.
Officials said that after receiving PCR they rapidly advance to the JNU campus with their teams. Injured students were taken to the nearby hospital for treatment.
