Kolkata: On Thursday, the second phase of the Bengal and Assam assembly election started in the morning at 8 am. Till 1 pm, Bengal has recorded 58% voter turnout in the 2nd phase of polling in assembly elections, while Assam recorded 48% turnout. However, the polling is done for a total of 30 seats in Bengal and 39 seats in Assam in this phase.
The election experts say that all eyes are on Nandigram where Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is up against heavyweight leader Suvendu Adhikari. She has given up her traditional Bhowanipore seat to contest from Nandigram just in a challenge to defeat Suvendu Adhikari.
