A jot of relaxation for the consumers of 19 Kg commercial LPG cylinder as the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) has slashed the prices by ₹135 per cylinder with effect from today.
City Wise Price Variations Of LPG Cylinder
In the National Capital, the cost of a 19 Kg commercial cylinder is ₹2355.50, now after the price drop, it will cost ₹2219. In Mumbai price went down to ₹2171.50 from ₹2,307 per cylinder. Consumers have to pay ₹2,322 for a 19 Kg commercial cylinder in Kolkata from the previous ₹2,455. Meanwhile, in Chennai LPG cylinder of the same capacity is being sold at ₹2,373 after the price drop against the previous ₹2,508.
On the other hand, a 14.2 Kg LPG cylinder costs ₹1,003 in Delhi. Beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will get a subsidy of ₹200 and will be transferred directly into their account. Thus, the effective price will be ₹803 for a 14.2 Kg cylinder. Since June 2020, no subsidy is paid on domestic gas and all the consumers, even Ujjwala beneficiaries purchased the cylinders at ₹1,003 in Delhi.
As for Non-subsidy LPG cylinders, this 14.2 Kg metal container costs ₹1,003 in Delhi after the hike from ₹999.50, as per the price notification provided by state-owned fuel retailers. Since April 2021, LPG prices are up by ₹193.5 per cylinder.
India’s reliance on other countries to meet its 85 per cent oil requirements makes it the most vulnerable Nation in Asia to inflated prices. On the other hand, despite having an excessive oil refining capacity, our Nation cannot fulfil the domestic demand for LPG as it does not manufacture enough.
