Kanta Prasad, who and whose Delhi’s Malviya Nagar-tucked ‘Baba Ka Dhaba‘ shot to fame recently, has filed a complaint against influencer Gaurav Wasan for alleged misappropriation of funds that people have donated to Prasad.
Gaurav Wasan is the same person who had shared the story of the 80-year-old with the world and asked people to help the elderly couple. While sharing his story Wasan had also asked people to donate money to help the eatery owner.
In the complaint filed against Wasan, Prasad has alleged that the former had “intentionally and deliberately shared only his and his family/friends bank details and mobile numbers with the donors and collected huge amount of donation through different mode of payments i.e bank account/wallets without providing any information to the complainant.”
The owner went on to accuse the YouTuber of not providing him information about the financial transactions.
“We received the complaint yesterday at the Malviya Nagar Police Station and the matter is being probed. No FIR (First Information Report) has been registered yet in the case,” police official Atul Kumar Thakur said.
Wasan Retaliates
As the allegations were made, Gaurav soon took his official page Swaad on Facebook to reveal his bank statement. ‘Transparency link verified by bank. Anybody who donated can go and verify re-verify. Thank you for supporting,’ he wrote.

Despite the fact he shared the back details, many people still don’t believe him and continues to sense a foul play.
A user wrote that ‘I saw his video where he was claiming 20 plus lakh donations, and now he is talking about two lakh donation. Something fishy.’ Another wrote ‘Column misaligned’, while many people commented that the document has been heavily edited.

While we await an investigation report, some people on the internet have already declared him a fraud.

To recall, when the aforementioned video had gone viral even actors like Raveen Tandon and Nimrat Kaur had come forward to urge people to help the couple.
