On Monday, the Union Health Ministry said to the media that in case if successful booking on CoWIN for a vaccination slot cannot guarantee a jab. The ministry called it “baseless and incorrect“.
Slots availability on CoWIN depends on the vaccination schedule published by either the Session site-in charge or District Immunization Officer (DIO). The health ministry said that these both depend on the availability of vaccines.

‘Vaccination sessions can now be rescheduled’
In concern to cancellation of appointments, the ministry said that this happened because DIOs canceling sessions owing to shortage of Covid-19 vaccines.
In respect to this, the health ministry said that “This definitely caused inconvenience to such beneficiaries who booked their appointments for such vaccination centers/ sessions.”
However, now CoWIN app offers a feature that allows DIOs to reschedule vaccination sessions instead of canceling them in case of shortages.
In the case of this scenario, the Beneficiaries receive an SMS informing them about the rescheduling of their vaccination session.
