Reliance Jio has revealed that it wants to increase its data price from Rs 15 per GB to Rs 20 per GB. However, to shock you a bit less, Jio told the Telecom Regulatory Authority Of India (TRAI) that it wants to implement the price in phases to not burden and the subscribers.

This comes after several Telecom operators asked TRAI to decide a floor price for data. Jio has asked TRAI to consider Rs 20 as the floor price. For the unknown, a floor price is a minimum amount that must be charged by a firm for its services to ensure competition in the market.
The hiked prices, nevertheless, might help the ailing telecom sector in the country to revive. With only Jio making money in the country, as of now, Vodafone and Airtel are still to pay their dues of Rs 53,000 crore and Rs 36,000 crore respectively.
Vodafone and Idea, that announced a merger months ago, have also said that the might have to end operations in the country if the Supreme Court doesn’t provide them some relief. According to Jio, this revised floor price will aid the distressed telecom sector.
