Delhi Government to Launch WhatsApp Service for Certificates and Licenses
The Delhi government is preparing to make accessing official documents easier than ever. Soon, people will be able to apply for essential services like driving licenses, marriage certificates, caste certificates, or even birth certificates directly through WhatsApp. With this move, paperwork that usually required multiple office visits will become a simple online process, right from home.
What Services Will Be Available?
Under the new initiative named WhatsApp Governance, several major government documents will gradually be digitised. Citizens will no longer need to stand in long queues or chase different departments. Instead, they will be able to apply, verify, and even download their certificates through WhatsApp itself. The streamlined approach is also expected to minimize delays and reduce corruption in the system.
How Will It Work?
At the heart of this service will be an AI-powered chatbot, designed to communicate in both Hindi and English. This chatbot will guide users step by step, making the application process smoother and more transparent. Initially, around 25 to 30 services will be integrated into the platform, with more departments joining later. For better connectivity, it will also be linked to Delhi’s e-district portal.
Once launched, using the service will be straightforward. Citizens will simply send a “Hi” message to the chatbot on WhatsApp. The bot will then share a digital form, which users can fill out and upload along with the necessary documents. The process, designed to be simple and user-friendly, will eliminate many of the challenges people usually face while dealing with government paperwork.
