As the doctors and other health professionals are fighting at the forefront they are facing the ‘stigma’ from society. News of doctors, nurses, airline staff being asked to vacate their accommodation due to COVID-19 fears have surfaced. Taking this into consideration the ‘Delhi government’ has taken a major step.
The Delhi government on Monday tied up with 5-star luxury Hotel Lalit. The tie-up is to provide accommodation for government hospital doctors. This is also done in a view to containing COVID-19 as doctors being in touch with patients can spread it. Relief centers in night shelters and schools have also been made available for poor people. Delhi government has set up over 800 centers for shelter and provides two meals a day to over 400,000 people.
The Delhi CMO made official announcement through the twitter handle. “Doctors are on the frontlines of the battle against Coronavirus. All doctors serving in Delhi government’s Lok Nayak Hospital and GB Pant Hospital on COVID-19 duty will now be housed in Hotel Lalit“, read the tweet.

“Even in America, the world’s most developed country, corona patients are not getting treatment in the hospital… If the country has to be saved from these conditions, then there is only one way – stay at home and follow the lockdown. To avoid big trouble, small trouble will have to be faced,” Manish Sisodia, deputy chief minister said. The capital has so far reported 72 plus cases.
Following the suit, the Uttar Pradesh government also booked hotels for doctors. The Lucknow district administration acquired 4 hotels for doctors and paramedical staff.
