The capital city is very likely to get its first stretch of heaper, smaller and slower urban rail transit system in face of Metrolite. As per the reports from the Housing and Urban Affairs ministry the DMRC has approved the plan and forwarded it to the central government.
The first run of Metrolite is expected to be on the 20 Km stretch of the Kirti Nagar to Dwarka Sector 25. Metrolite would have a maximum speed of 60 km/h and would be able to carry a passenger load of 300.

Unlike the six and eight coach metro, Metrolite would comprise of only three coaches.
