EPFO 3.0: A Major Digital Upgrade for Faster and Smarter PF Services
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is introducing a new digital platform, EPFO 3.0, set to roll out in 2025. Designed to serve over 8 crore members, this upgrade promises to streamline PF-related services, reduce delays, and bring in more transparency. Leading IT companies—Infosys, Wipro, and TCS—are building the system to ensure smooth functionality. Although the launch was initially scheduled for June 2025, technical checks pushed the release slightly ahead.
Key Features of EPFO 3.0
Instant Withdrawals via ATM and UPI
One of the most exciting features is that members will be able to withdraw PF money using an ATM, provided their UAN is activated and linked with Aadhaar and their bank account. This facility will be especially useful in times of emergency when quick access to funds is crucial.
In addition, EPFO is also enabling UPI-based withdrawals. Just like making a regular digital transaction, members can get funds instantly without going through lengthy claim processes.
Hassle-Free Online Claim Process
The updated system will allow members to file claims digitally with simple OTP verification. Small corrections or updates in claims no longer require a visit to the PF office. On top of that, members will be able to track their claim status online, making the process quicker, easier, and more transparent.
Families of deceased members will also see simplified procedures. For instance, minors will not require a guardian certificate, making it faster for families to receive financial support in difficult times.
A Mobile-First Experience
EPFO 3.0 has been designed with mobility in mind. The platform will work seamlessly on smartphones, allowing users to check their account balance, claim status, and other details on the go.
