On Friday, The Employees Provident Fund Organisation extended the deadline for employers to update the wage details and other related info of employees. The Central Board of Trustees or CBT had taken the decision to extend the deadline after assessing the situation.
EPFO Extended Deadline to Upload Wage Details
“Earlier, an online facility was made available by EPFO for submitting Applications for Validation of Options/Joint Options for pension on higher wages. The facility was for eligible pensioners/members in compliance with the Hon’ble Supreme Court order dated November 4, 2022. The facility was launched on February 26, 2023, and was to remain available only till May 3, 2023. However, considering the representations of the employees, the time limit was extended to 26.06.2023 in order to provide complete four months’ time to eligible pensioners/members for filing applications,” said the Ministry of Labour & Employment said in a statement on Friday.
What’s the New Deadline Set for the Same?
“A last opportunity of 15 days was further given to remove any difficulty faced by the eligible pensioners/ members. Accordingly, the last date for submission of Applications for Validation of Options / Joint Options by employees was extended to July 11, 2023. 17.49 lakh Applications for Validation of Option / Joint Options have been received from pensioners/members till July 11, 2023,” said the Ministry.
Employers and employers’ groups asked for more time to upload wage details for pensioners/members. Good news—they now have an extra three months! The new deadline for submitting details online is September 30, 2023, according to the official statement.

We’re hearing it again—Employers and Employers’ Associations are asking for more time to upload wage details for pensioners/members. As of September 29, 2023, there’s a backlog of 5.52 lakh applications for Option/Joint Options validation still pending with employers, according to the Ministry.
The good news is that the Ministry heard the request and, with kind consideration, the Chairman of the Central Board of Trustees has given employers more time. Now, they have until December 31, 2023, to submit wage details and the like.
