EPFO Updates Policy on Cheque Leaf and Bank Passbook Uploads

The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has eased claim settlement guidelines in some instances. In some circumstances, EPFO members will not be required to provide a picture of a certified bank passbook or check leaf, as per a recent circular from the retirement fund authority.

The EPFO employs extra verification procedures to guarantee the integrity of claims. These might include:

  • Online bank KYC Verification: Check your bank’s or the National Payments Corporation of India’s KYC data directly (NPCI).
  • Verification Of Employers By DSC: A Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) can be used by your employer to confirm the details of your bank account.
  • Verification Of The Seeded Aadhaar Number: Your bank’s Aadhaar number will be verified by UIDAI.

By doing this, the online claim settlement process would be sped up and fewer claims would be denied because the online claim was filed without a picture of the verified check leaf or bank passbook.

Furthermore, the EPFO could not have stated the eligibility conditions. Here are a few potential results:

  • Validated Bank Data: You might not need to submit any paperwork if your bank information has already been verified by KYC or another technique.
  • Sum Of Claim: The relaxation can apply to claims that fall below a predetermined amount.

An authentic, cancelled check with the member’s name, bank account number, and IFSC code visible is the greatest supporting document for an EPF claim. To resolve your claim, this acts as verification of the details of your bank account.

If your bank account does not have a chequebook feature, the EPFO provides a substitute. A copy of your bank passbook’s first page that has been properly authenticated—that is, stamped and signed by the bank manager—may be sent. The IFSC code and your bank account number should be included in this verified passbook copy.

How To Submit An Online Claim?

  • Step 1: Enter your UAN login information to access the member interface.
  • Step 2: Verify the accuracy and completeness of the KYC and service eligibility requirements mentioned against his UAN.
  • Step 3: Choose the relevant claim.
  • Step 4: Use the OTP you received to verify your identity against the mobile number you have on file with UIDAI to complete the online claim filing process.

Qualifications For Eligibility Are:

  • Both an authorized Universal Account Number (UAN) and registered member status are prerequisites.
  • Your UAN account has to be seeded and validated using your Aadhaar number, bank account number, and other KYC details.
