The administration in Haryana’s Karnal district issued a prohibitory order under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in the district, on Monday. The administration said that a large gathering is banned in Karnal. The farmer’s protest unions have planned a rally in Karnal to protest the August 28 lathi charge on farmers.
On the day Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar scheduled to attend a BJP meeting in Karnal, police have used force against the protesting farmers. The farmers gathered at Bastara toll plaza in Karnal to protest the CM visit for the BJP meeting. In the lathi charge, at least 10 farmers have been injured.

In a video that went viral on social media just after the incident, Karnal SDM Ayush Sinha ordering the police to break the heads of the protestors who try to cross the barricade. Following the farmer’s protest incident, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), an organization of farmers protesting against three farm laws passed by the Parliament in 2020, demanded to register a case against the Karnal SDM.
The farmers threatened a gherao protest at the Karnal secretariat on September 7, if demands were not duly met.
