The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) rolled out its much-talked-about FASTag Annual Pass on August 15, offering car, jeep, and van owners a convenient way to travel on national highways. Priced at ₹3,000, this one-time payment provides either unlimited travel for one year or a maximum of 200 trips, depending on which comes first, from the date of activation.
What’s truly remarkable is the overwhelming response—within just four days of its launch, the scheme attracted more than 5 lakh subscribers, highlighting how well the initiative has been received across the country.
How the FASTag Annual Pass Works
To get started, users need to activate their Annual Pass either through the official NHAI website or the Rajmargyatra app. Once the vehicle and its FASTag are verified, the pass can be purchased by making the one-time payment.
The FASTag Annual Pass is valid across 1,150 toll plazas on highways and expressways operated by NHAI and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). Key routes covered under this scheme include the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway (KGP), and the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway, among many others.
Highways Not Covered Under the Pass
While the new scheme offers great benefits, there are certain exclusions to note. Toll payments on state highways and expressways operated by state governments will not be covered under this Annual Pass. In such cases, the charges will continue to be deducted directly from the user’s regular FASTag account.
For instance, Uttar Pradesh’s major expressways—the Purvanchal Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway, Yamuna Expressway, and Agra-Lucknow Expressway—are not part of this facility, as they fall under the jurisdiction of the UP government.
