
Festive Special Trains Announced: Western Railway Makes Holiday Travel Easier
Western Railway is gearing up to ease travel during the upcoming festive season by launching three pairs of special trains, set to run between late September and early December 2025. These festival specials will connect Bandra Terminus–Ayodhya Cantt, Bandra Terminus–Ludhiana Junction, and Udhna–Jaynagar, helping passengers travel smoothly for Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath celebrations.
Train Routes and Schedule
The first pair, running from Bandra Terminus to Ayodhya Cantt, will depart every Wednesday at 11:00 AM, starting October 1 until November 19. The return service leaves Ayodhya the following Thursday at 9:00 PM, arriving back in Mumbai early Saturday morning. Major stops on this route include Borivali, Surat, Vadodara, Ratlam, Jhansi, Kanpur Central, Lucknow, and Barabanki.
The second service, Bandra Terminus to Ludhiana Junction, operates every Sunday night at 9:50 PM from October 5 through November 30, reaching Ludhiana early Tuesday. The return journey from Ludhiana runs every Tuesday morning at 4:00 AM, continuing until December 2, covering major stations such as Surat, Vadodara, Kota, New Delhi, Panipat, and Ambala.
The third festive train pair covers Udhna to Jaynagar, with departures from Udhna beginning September 30 at 6:45 AM and arrivals in Jaynagar by the following evening. The return trip leaves Jaynagar on October 1 at 11:00 PM, reaching Udhna on October 3. Stops on this line include Surat, Vadodara, Prayagraj, Ara, Patliputra, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, and Madhubani.
Booking Details and Coach Classes
Each festival special will offer a variety of coaches, ranging from AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Sleeper Class, and General Second Class. Reservations for the Udhna–Jaynagar specials open on September 28, while tickets for Bandra–Ayodhya and Bandra–Ludhiana train pairs become available from September 29. Travelers can book their tickets at PRS counters or through the IRCTC website, and can also check precise timings and coach layouts via the official railway portal.
With these special train services, Western Railway aims to make holiday travel more convenient for thousands of passengers heading home or exploring new destinations this festive season.
