The I-T department allows taxpayers to submit a revised ITR in order to amend any mistakes they made on their original return. Section 139(5) of the 1961 Income-Tax Act provides for this.
On March 31, 2022, the deadline for filing a revised income tax return (ITR) has passed. When we file our ITRs, we are prone to making inconsequential errors. Even the tiniest of errors may have a major impact on tax deductions. As a result, the I-T department provides taxpayers with the opportunity to make necessary corrections and submit a new ITR. Section 139(5) of the 1961 Income-Tax Act provides for this.
However, it should be emphasized that the original return’s information must be included in the updated ITR as well.
