Women in India, thankfully, are getting all the recognition they deserve and we should be proud of that. Recently, after granting permanent commission to women in the Army, now for the first time, a woman IPS has been appointed as the Inspector General of CRPF in Srinagar.
Charu Sinha has been asked to lead the post of Inspector General of CRPF in the Srinagar sector, which is infamous for terrorist activities. IPS officer Charu Sinha belongs to the 1996 batch Telangana cadre, and had earlier worked as IG of the Bihar sector in CRPF and had dealt with Naxals, according to an ANI report.
She, in Bihar, had fought against several anti nationalist Naxals and has led operations there. On Monday, a fresh order was passed to appoint her as the IG of the Srinagar sector.

Till now, the sector has never had a female officer at the IG level. It was headed by then-IG and current Director-General CRPF, AP Maheshwari, in 2005.
The CRPF said, “Srinagar sector is located at Brein Nishat, Srinagar (J-K). It started functioning in 2005. Srinagar Sector has operational jurisdiction over three districts of J-K- Budgam, Ganderbal, and Srinagar and Union Territory of Ladakh,”
The paramilitary force added, “It includes 2 ranges, 22 executive units, and 3 Mahila companies. Apart from it, Srinagar Sector has administrative control on Group Centre-Srinagar.”
