Getting a PAN (Permanent Account Number) would not be hectic anymore. You would not be required to fill detailed forms. The Budget 2020 has made the process of PAN a simplified one.
Soon you would be able to get your PAN card with the help of Aadhaar card (Unique Identification Number). Aadhaar holders would be able to apply for PAN card easily and instantly. The budget also announced that Aadhaar-based verification of taxpayers would also be rolled out soon.Â
To implement this an online system for instant allotment of PAN on the basis of Aadhaar would be launched soon. As the PAN (Permanent Account Number) and Aadhaar linking debate is going on the budget 2020 has played a key move on it. The issuance on the basis of Aadhaar would automatically cause the linkage. Thus, would further the aim of government.

Though PAN and Aadhaar cards have been made interchangeable for income tax purposes, it is mandatory for citizens to link PAN with Aadhaar card by March 31, 2020. Gujarat High cour however recently held that PAN not linked to Aadhaar is not invalid.
