The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), which issues Aadhaar cards, issued another round of deadline extensions for free Aadhaar Card document updates. Now, Aadhaar Card documents can be updated for free on the mAadhaar portal till June 14, 2024. The new deadline extension of three months comes after the previous deadline of December 14.
“UIDAI extends free online document upload facility until 14th June 2024, benefiting millions of Aadhaar holders. This free service is only available through the myAadhaar website. UIDAI has been pushing users to maintain their Aadhaar documents up to date,” according to an official announcement on X.
The free service is available exclusively through the myAadhaar site. The service would continue to cost Rs 50 at physical Aadhaar centres. The UIDAI has been encouraging citizens to submit Proof of Identity and Proof of Address (PoI/PoA) papers to revalidate their demographic information, particularly if their Aadhaar was issued ten years ago and has never been updated. This will improve authentication success rates, contribute to better service delivery, and make life more convenient.
Residents have two alternatives for updating their demographic information (name, date of birth, address, etc.): use the regular online update service or visit the local Aadhar centre. In these cases, standard fees will be charged.
