India’s longest and most advanced roadway, the Delhi-Mumbai Motorway, will soon allow travellers to drive from Gurugram to Vadodara in just ten hours. Vadodara, Gujarat, and Gurugram, Haryana, are around 950 kilometres apart. This trip typically takes 20 to 22 hours.
A key portion of the motorway close to Kota, Rajasthan, is what makes this enormous improvement in travel convenience feasible.
The Delhi-Mumbai Motorway is the longest in India, spanning an astounding 1,380 km. This highway helps users save time and fuel because vehicles can reach speeds of up to 120 km/h.
With an investment of Rs 95,000 crore, this massive project is being constructed across six states: Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, according to reports.
Additionally, the motorway is a move towards sustainable and environmentally friendly infrastructure. Green technology utilisation in construction has been guaranteed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Wildlife protection has been given significant attention, particularly in the vicinity of the Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve. To lessen animal disturbance and protect the natural habitat, the motorway has tunnels, animal pathways, and noise barriers.
By October 2025, it is anticipated that the full motorway will be operating.
