HDFC Bank to Revise Credit Card Reward Points Starting October 1, 2024

HDFC Bank has made changes to its credit card reward program. Oct. 1, 2024, is when these revised regulations will go into force. Customers that are impacted have received an email from the bank with this information.

For example, on the Smartbuy platform, HDFC Bank has limited the number of reward points that may be redeemed for Apple products to one product every calendar quarter. Additionally, starting on October 1st, 2024, the SmartBuy portal will restrict the number of Reward Points that may be redeemed for Tanishq gift cards to 50,000 every calendar quarter. Note that only Infinia and Infinia Metal Cards are affected by these modifications.

Quarters of the calendar: January to March, April to June, July to September, and October to December.

The HDFC Bank website states that as of October 1, 2024, “Reward Point redemption for Apple Products on the HDFC Bank SmartBuy portal is limited to one product per calendar quarter.” Quarters of the calendar: January to March, April to June, July to September, and October to December. Only Infinia & Infinia Metal Cards are covered by this.

Beginning October 1st, 2024, the maximum number of Reward Points that may be redeemed for Tanishq vouchers on the HDFC Bank SmartBuy platform will be 50,000 Reward Points every calendar quarter. Quarters of the calendar: January to March, April to June, July to September, and October to December.

Only Infinia & Infinia Metal Cards are covered by this.

Starting On September 1, The Following Changes To Your Hdfc Bank Credit Card Were In Effect.

  • There will be a maximum of 2000 Reward Points each calendar month on Reward Points earned on Utility transactions.
  • The maximum number of Reward Points that can be accrued from Telecom and Cable transactions is 2000 per calendar month.
  • Please take notice that the product feature capping will still be in effect for the following credit cards: Bharat, Millennia, Best Price Save Smart, Paytm, Paytm Business, UPI, BIZ UPI, Swiggy, and BIZ First.
  • Reward Points will not be awarded for education payments made using third-party applications, such as CRED, Cheq, MobiKwik, and others. Reward Points will be awarded for educational payments made directly through college or school websites or POS systems.
  • This is limited to cards used by consumers.
  • Reward points will not be awarded for simple EMI transactions.
  • Only the Freedom and MoneyBack+ cards are affected by this.
  • On qualifying purchases, you will receive three reward points for every rupee 150 spent on your credit card.
  • Only Regalia First and Business Regalia First cards are affected by this.

The HDFC Bank website states that the membership fee for joining or renewing is Rs. 12,500 plus applicable taxes. Upon fee realization and card activation, take advantage of the 12,500 reward points* Welcome and Renewal incentive. Spend at least 10 lakhs in the year before to qualify for a free membership renewal the following year.
