As per Hindu Calendar Panchang, Holi falls every year on the day of the full moon night during Falgun month. Furthermore, Holika Dahan or Chhoti Holi, which is celebrated a day before colour, will be celebrated on March 24, this year.

Significance of Holi 2024
The tale of Holi starts with a demon king or Asura king named Hiranyakashyap who lived several years ago, had barred everyone in his kingdom from taking the name of God, Lord Vishnu and asked his people to call himself a God.
However, his son Prahlad was the biggest devotee of Lord Vishnu which the world had never seen. Seeing this, Hiranyakashyap became very furious and tried to kill his son numerous times, but failed.
Prahlad got saved every time with the blessings of Lord Vishnu. However, after so many failed attempts Asura King orders his sister Holika, who has immunity from fire and cannot be burned, to kill Prahlad. They both sat in the fire in the woods, but because of a miracle Prahlad again beat death and Holika got killed while burning in the fire, which she had immunity from. Since this incident, Holika Dahan was started in the name of Lord Vishnu’s biggest devotee Prahlad.

Puja Vidhi Of Holika Dahan 2024
Holika Dahan is celebrated by wrapping a wooden pyre three or seven times with a white thread known as Mauli (Kaccha Sut). After that, it worships the pyre by covering it with flowers, kumkum, and holy water. The pyre is lighted when the pooja is finished.
In India, people light bonfires to commemorate the success of Bhakt Prahlad’s devotion to Lord Vishnu on this day. Also, Holika Puja is performed because it is believed to shower wealth and success upon every household. People can also overcome all of their worries with the power of this puja.
