Knowingly or unknowingly, you may have broken a traffic rule. And now you have ended up with a challan notice.

With the advancement in technology, and we headed towards a digital India, challans have also got digital. Means, if you violate traffic rules, you would be liable to receive an E-Challan through SMS.

Generally, you need to pay e-Challan within 60 days from the date of issue. Neglecting the same would lead to challan getting forward to the court, which would lead to strict punishment including imprisonment.

So in order to thwart such woes, you can quickly pay the challan amount by these simple online methods.

To note, the penalties for violating traffic laws have increased as per the amended Motor Vehicle Act

Follow These Steps To pay E-Challan Online

Step 1 – Visit the Digital Traffic/Transport Enforcement Solution website i.e. http://echallan.parivahan.gov.in. Then click on ‘Check Challan Status’ option on the blue tab.

Step 2 – Then you need to fill either of the three mentioned details to get the status of your Challan. Fill any – challan number, vehicle number or Driving Licence – and then enter the captcha and then click on “Get Details”.

Step 3 – After you click on Get Details a row with multiple options will appear. You will also notice a Total Challan option which will highlight the amount of challan payable.

Step 4 – If a challan has been issued against you the same will the challans will reflect in the challan status row. Here, you can start making online payments. In such a case, under the ‘Payment option,’ you will have to click on ‘Pay Now’ to proceed further.

Step 5 – Select the mode of payment – credit card/debit card or Net-banking. Once you have been made, you will receive a ‘Payment Successful’ message along with the transaction ID. Do not forget to note down the transaction ID for proof.
