With an aim to launch the COVID-19 vaccine by September this year the United Kingdom (U.K.) would begin human trials. The vaccine to be developed by researchers and scientists from Oxford University would start its trial tomorrow.
The team of Oxford which is working on the vaccine is quite sure of its efficacy. So, much so that they have started the production of the vaccine before its trials. According to lead researcher Professor Sarah Gilbert, their ‘ChAdOx1′ vaccine can work against the coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2 aka Coronavirus.
The U.K. government is providing 20 million pounds to the Oxford research team to help fund their clinical trials. Further, 22.5 million pounds for researchers at Imperial College are also provided. UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock provided the information.
The creation of a vaccine normally takes 12 to 18 months. However, what separates ChAdOx1 – known as recombinant viral vector vaccine – from the rest is the time it promises. Unlike the two or more doses that are required through the RNA and DNA technique ChAdOx1 has shown result in one dose only, said Professor Sarah Gilbert.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) also pitched for the Oxford vaccine on Sunday, saying ‘ChAdOX1‘ is the frontrunner in the race to take on the deadly COVID-19 virus. The UK plans for 1 million doses to be available of the vaccine by September.
